The Ministry of Science and Technology has been promoted to a new one standing on its own in accordance with the official order No. (30/96) dated 2 October 1996 to produce skilled workers, engineers, technologists and technicians of advanced science and technology, to support the development of National Economy and to carry out Research and Development tasks more successfully. Nowadays, the Ministry has been implementing the projects and researches which provide the development of the country and producing highly qualified and such skilled workers as engineers, technologists and technicians.
The objectives of the Ministry of Science and Technology are as follows:
(a) To carry out Research and Development for the improvement of National Economy
(b) To promote the status of National Economy by using the natural resources effectively
(c) To increase the production of the country by distributing the good results and benefits yielded from agricultural and industrial sectors
(d) To nurture such skilled workers as engineers, technologists and technicians who are experts in advanced science and technology
(e) To analyze and test on raw materials and monitor the value added products; to set the standards and the norms for quality control
(f) To do researches on using the atomic energy in safety measures

The Ministry of Science and Technology set the following policies.
(a) To develop and to enrich the economy of the country by using the natural resources effectively
(b)To support the national production by doing Research and Development in industries such as agriculture and aerospace for the development of National Economy and Social Welfares
(c) To nature the human resources in advanced science and technology for the State
(d)To upgrade the experiments on raw materials and value-added products, measurements on their properties, maintenance on QC (Quality Control) and setting the required norms and standards
(e) To understand the know-how in Nuclear technology and to do the relative researches for practical use
(f) To provide regional development by giving technical and vocational opportunities for the youth and by promoting the changes of learning science and technology
(g)To produce the persons who are capable of initiating the new insights, innovative ideas and creative originality in science and technology
(h)To upgrade such skilled workers as engineers, technologists and technicians who will need for cooperation and implementation of the world’s countries in accordance with the new millennium goals laid down by the United Nations.
