Online Teaching and Learning System
By the guidence of H.E. U Thaung, MOST is now promoting teaching aids with advanced technology of video conferencing. With the help of iPStar connectivity and high speed dedicated network infrastructure, MOST is establishing the Online Teaching and Learning System. This system creates the virtual class room environment between all universities under MOST using the video conferencing technology. All Computer Universities and Technological Universities are now connecting with iPStar connection. With the aim of MOST and guidance of minister, Online Teaching & Learning system is established as one of the research activities. The objectives of the project are :
The Online Learning and Teaching System can support for establishing academic and research network that can share knowledge. This system also provide a way to solve the rarness of expert teachers and a way to create an environment in which students can interacte with professors and lecturers in real time manners. The system is now successfully implemented and connected to various universities which locate around the country. The real time implementation has shown in figure.
Figure 1. Online Teaching and Learning System Architecture Online Teaching and Learning system is one of the form of e-learning system. It is a step forward technology for teaching assistant. It is a very effective way for students to learn interactively with the lecturer in real time manner. This high technology overcomes the time and distance restrictions among universities and provides different learning styles where students and lecturers can see each other and can make interactive discussion. Thus it creates the virtual form of class room structure. The development of ICT in Myanmar is arriving at a critical moment and e-Education ultimately brings a truly information society by taking the initiative in leading the global IT trends. Science, technology and education are considered as primary forces that will make the country prosperous The Live Lectures are now broadcasting for all Universities under MOST for SECOND SEMESTER, 2008.
