Welcome to Technological University (Hmawbi)

       Technological University (Hmawbi) locates on the east of Yangon-Pyay highway, beyond the town Hmawbi  in Yangon Division, Myanmar with the area of  46.77 acres. It was formerly opened as a Technical High School (T.H.S) on 1st June 1989 and then it was changed to Government Institute of Technology on 23-10-1989. Later it was promoted to Government Technological College (GTC) and finally was upgraded as a Technological University on 20-1-2007.

Background History

 

 Background History of Technological University (Hmawbi) is presented as the following:

(a)    Department of Technical and Vocational Education under Ministry of asked for permission to establish another Technical High School in Yangon Division in June, 1985. It was granted to set up with 3 officers and 91 staff (altogether 94 service personnel)
(b)    Technical High School (Hmawbi) was first opened in the era of State Peace and Development Councial in October 1989.
(c)    Technical High School (Hmawbi) was upgraded into Government Institute of Technology in 1998 in order to be able to produce more Middle-run Technicians for the nation
(d)    It was upgraded from Government Institute of Technology to Government Technological College in January 2001 to nurture technicians and engineers
(e)    On 20th January 2007 it was upgraded from Government Technological College to Technological University

 

 

Objectives

 

(a)   To implement the objectives laid down by Ministry of Science and Technology and by Department of Technical and Vocational Education
(b)   To nurture technicians and engineers who are essential in building a new modern developed and peaceful nation
(c)   To upgrade the modern technology in accordance with the changing conditions
